Editing Tip - The Four C's
What is the secret to writing great query letters?
Answer: The four C's = Clean, Concise, Considerate, and Correct.
Be clear on why you are contacting the publisher/agent. Don't leave out any information or key words that will spotlight your query.
Be concise, keep your information accurate and active. Remove any unnecessary words and phrases.
Be considerate, remember your manners!
A small 'please' and 'thank you' go a long way.
Be correct, make sure you send what the publisher/agent has requested, and proofread your query letter. Spelling mistakes and bad grammar will only land you in the slush pile.
