TransCRW Valentine Blog Tour - Romance in the Movie

UPDATE FEB 16 - The result of a random draw for my handmade Valentine bookmark is...Daryl Devore. Congratulations!

February 14,’s Sunday, a cold winter’s night, and Valentine’s Day. What a perfect combination to cuddle up with your special someone and watch a romantic movie.

While I love a good action and sci-fi movie, I’m a big fan of romance dramas and comedies. With so many love-inspired movies out there, deciding what to watch is a difficult task. Some are just not that good, others are okay but a bit on the boring side, many are quite good and you add them to your favourite movie list. But then there are the selected few that leave an imprint and make your top five all-time favourite list. Here are my top five romantic movies:

1. The Notebook
Rachel McAdams, Ryan Gosling, Gena Rowlands, James Garner
A poor and passionate young man falls in love with a rich young woman and gives her a sense of freedom. They soon are separated by their social differences.
I liked this movie because of its intense emotion and story line. Rachel and Ryan make the perfect duo, but it’s James Garner and Gena Rowlands that make the movie for me. Their scenes pull the strings of your heart.

2. The Longest Ride
Britt Robertson, Scott Eastwood, Alan Alda
The lives of a young couple intertwine with a much older man, as he reflects back on a past love.
We recently watched this movie and it instantly made my top five. Scott Eastwood is a cutie, looking just like his dad, a young Clint Eastwood. This movie reminded me of The Notebook, but in this storyline the story of the past is the most captivating. Love letters from Alan Alda’s character tells the story of the love of his life. I highly recommend this wonderful romance movie.

3. The Proposal
Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds
A pushy boss forces her young assistant to marry her in order to keep her Visa status in the U.S. and avoid deportation to Canada.
Sandra and Ryan together make this movie a winner for me. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the laughs are non-stop. Betty White is a secondary character in this movie, playing Ryan’s grandmother. The scene with her and Sandra dancing in the woods is priceless.

4. This Means War
Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy
Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.
Chris Pine and Tom Hardy! Need I say any more about this movie? Two incredibly handsome men fighting for the same woman. Resse is one lucky lady. There are lots of fun scenes and plenty of action while you keep guessing who will be the man she chooses in the end.

5. P.S. I Love You
Hilary Swank, Gerard Butler
A young widow discovers that her late husband has left her ten messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life.
I’ve watched this movie so many times that I’ve lost count. It’s just one of those movies you see on the television listing and make a point to watch or record it. Hilary and Gerard’s first encounter is so sweet, and their love story makes this movie a hit. Hilary’s struggle to continue is emotional. I became a fan after seeing her in this movie. And well, Gerard...he’s just dreamy.

I made this bookmark especially for this Valentine Blog Tour. The sliver key with hearts (pink gems in the middle) holds your page from a pink ribbon, with a silver heart hanging at the end. To win this bookmark, leave a comment telling me what are some of your favourite romance movies. A winner will be chosen on February 16, 2016.

Be sure to check out my recent release...Hershey’s Choice.
Britt may be Hershey’s choice, but can the boisterous Labrador convince his owner?

Engineer Ryan Jerome has a knack for designing the future but can’t create one for himself. When Ryan lets his dog, Hershey, take the lead, going to the park is never the same. Unintentional meetings, a soiled coat, and a meddling mother are a few of the obstacles in his way of convincing Britt he’s not a stalker. Will he accept his dog’s direction and open his heart to the beautiful woman with a side of crazy?

Ruined weddings, divorced parents, and disastrous relationships have left event planner Britt Wells a non-believer in happy-ever-after. She’s readying for a future in interior design with one last wedding to oversee. Complications arise when she learns a suspected stalker and owner of an unruly dog is related to her client. Falling for Ryan and Hershey were not part of the plan. Can she put aside her doubts in relationships and take a chance on love?

  1. Love The Notebook. It's one of my favorite movies of all time.

  2. This was a wonderful post (and love the bookmark you are so creative) I've only seen one of the movies you listed so i'm excited to try some of the others.

  3. Thank you Susanne and Gini for stopping by!

  4. I sooooo love romantic comedies. The Proposal is right up there on my list (how adorable is Ryan Reynolds) but I haven't seen The Longest Ride yet (but saw it is now on Netflix, yay!). While You Were Sleeping is still my number one favorite as it has everything from romance to conflict to comedy.

  5. I taught dance at a high school school in Cornwall - Ryan Gosling refused to take my class - but I taught his sister, Mandy, and his cousin Faith. Hersey's Choice sounds like a great read.

  6. Casablanca
My email is in my profile in case I should win :)
