Guest Visit - Maureen L. Bonatch

Visiting with me on this chilly October day is Maureen L. Bonatch. Grab a comfy chair by the fire and join Maureen and I for a cup of coffee. Today, we'll get to know a bit about Maureen and get a peek at her new release, Evil Speaks Softly.

Maureen, tell us a little about yourself.
I grew up in small town Pennsylvania and still live there because I love the four seasons—hockey, biking, sweat pants and hibernation. I married my high school sweetheart and we have twin teenage daughters and feisty Shih Tzu (Scruff) who keeps us all in line. I’m also a healthcare freelance writer and work in nursing administration.

What one thing would readers be surprised to know about you?
I’d be terrified if I actually had a ghost whisper in my ear like Liv from Evil Speaks Softly. I think that’s why it was easy to write her fear, because it was my own.

What’s your guilty procrastination secret?
Ok this is weird, but it’s cleaning, lol. Although preparing for the release of Evil Speaks Softly has had me neglecting the house—and it’s driving me a little crazy, lol.

What does your writing space look like?
A few years ago I finally took over what started as a guest room, then became a play room, and is now finally my office. I rearranged it again last year and painted so now I face out the window. I often wonder if I might terrorize the neighbors seeing my ‘ghostly’ half-asleep face framed in the window well before the sun rises.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not writing?
I love to watch movies and am especially fond of comedy and paranormal and/or suspense. I also bicycle on the trials near our home, go to hockey games (go Penguins!) and read.

What can we look forward to with your upcoming or next writing project?
I’m working on edits for Book 2 in my The Enchantlings Series tentatively titled, Not A Chance. That should be my next release, although I have several others I’m working on plus I’m gearing up for National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWri). So many stories, not enough time!

Before we wrap up our chat,
let's take a peek at, Evil Speaks Softly,
which has an awesome cover!
This cover is creepy, and it's supposed to be...
it makes you want to open the book to read the story!
Everyone has a story to tell. Even the dead.

They were never supposed to meet. Fame came easy for Liv by following in the footsteps of the female writers in her family. The cycle repeated for decades…until Liv changed the story. Her villain doesn’t like the revision—and he isn’t a fictional character. In his story, the bad guy always wins.

They were never supposed to find love. Liv never questioned her demanding nocturnal muse, or the strange incidents in her old, family home until she met Gage. His job was to watch her from afar, not reveal the truth about the curse and the stories of the dead. They’ve broken all the rules. Together they unravel secrets as they strive to stop the cycle. Liv’s ability to find love, and protect her loved ones, hangs on the fickle whims of the dead—and they’ve got nothing to lose.
