Where Does the Time Go?

Time flies by way too fast! My last blog post was May 31, when I did a shout-out of the new look on my site. I completely missed June, and now we're at the half-way point in July!
Here's a quick note on what's been happening.

In writing news...

I'm thrilled with the contract offer from Escape for Nothing To Lose. Edits have begun, and I'm happy to once again be working with the same editor I worked with through One Sweet Christmas. It's been fun catching up with her.

The second book in my Redford Falls series has been sent to the managing editor from Escape. She just returned from maternity leave, so I expect a bit of a delay in hearing on my submission as she settles back into her position.

In personal news...

My mother took a stroke near the end of May. Thankfully, she has no permanent paralysis, but it's been a stressful couple of weeks for my family.

June came and went, and then just after the Canada Day long weekend, our workshop/storage building caught fire. We lost everything from a result of either fire, smoke, or water damage. While waiting for the firemen to arrive (which was only minutes after my call) my husband fought the fire with a garden hose. A fireman told me my husband saved the fire from spreading to our house which is only a few feet away. It was a very scary incident. We may have lost workshop and garden tools, as well as other miscellaneous stored items, I am very thankful my house and family are safe and unharmed.

We were on vacation last week and only took one day-trip to the Valley. We wanted to stay close to home to receive phone calls regarding a rebuild on the workshop. The several hours we went to the Valley did give us a brief escape from the stress we've been going through the two months.

I'm catching up on responding to overdue emails and reviews this week, and hopefully fit in some writing on a new story...but I've learned from recent events to not plan too far ahead, and to take one day at a time.

I hope you're enjoying a fun summer!
