Welcome to The Write Life!
My newsletter that captures the essence of my writing journey while leaving room for personal stories and literary reflections.
Consider this newsletter a cozy invitation to my world.
Why put my newsletter on my blog? Well, my blog receives a huge amount of hits daily, whereas if I started an email newsletter I'd hear crickets chirping. I would have to beg and plead for people to sign up for my newsletter (which I don't want to do). Then send it to already filled mailboxes (I don't know about you, but I quickly scan the newsletters I receive). I designed a fancy banner for my newsletter. And gave it a title that blends well with my blog title. So, let's get right into the news.
Writing...
In Spring, I gave myself a goal to edit two of my previously published books. I am happy to say that I achieved this goal. Winter's Kiss was published August 16...
...and Broken Branches (previously titled Under the Apple Blossoms) is being formatted into Ebook and print. I'm hoping it will be on Amazon by the end of the month.
I also wanted to write another screenplay, but to lessen the pressure of too many projects on the go, I decided it was best to edit and have my books re-published. Why let them sit in a computer file and collect dust when they should be on the shelves for readers to read. My goal is to have Finding Home Again and Derailed Hearts (original titles with new titles to be determined) completed and on Amazon by the end of the Fall. A Recipe for Forever needs a full story rewrite (I want to change the storyline), so that one will take longer and unlikely make my Fall deadline.
Design...
I haven't been working on new art, other than designing new book covers for Winter's Kiss and Broken Branches. New covers are required for the next two books in the Redford Falls series, so I'll be designing those over the next few weeks.
While I haven't been designing art pieces, my main website received a re-branding. I liked the color scheme, but designed a new logo and banner. I also gave my writing a tagline...Wit, Twists, and a Touch of Intrigue. I am really happy with the way it turned out.
As well, I rebranded my art blog with a whole new look. New background, logo, and banner. My art blog is Paint, Pencil, and Pixel, which are the main forms of art I love...painting, drawing, and digital art. My art blog tagline is Splashes, Scribbles, and Bit Magic ~ Art Between Worlds. Which again, reflect my three favorite forms of art.
Personal...
Daily life is just always busy. Time flies by. Where the heck did summer go?
My boys are well. Big and bad as ever, lol.
Good thing they are cute. I call them my herd as it seems all I do is herd them indoor and outdoor. Keefer is kind, sweet, and stubborn as ever. And Rambler is slowly becoming a well-behaved dog. He's a cuddly bugger but still has a few reactive tendencies. His guarding instinct has rubbed off on Keefer and now they both feel the need to bark at anyone and everything. Again...good thing they are cute.
My daughter is moving into a new apartment in November, so we'll be busy helping her pack and move. And I'm hoping my husband and I take a break after having new flooring installed to wander the Halifax waterfront.
Reading...
I finished reading book fourteen of James Patterson's Women's Murder Club series, but the magazine received an influx of review requests, so I had to pause the Murder Club. I've read some good books this month. Two that stand out are: The Passenger by Joie Lesin and The Whisper of a Kiss By Kathy Otten. I'm currently reading Cleo Cooper Mysteries by Dawna Coutant and will then return to Hawaii with Anna J. Stewart's books four and five.
I'm sure there's something I left out, but I don't want my newsletters to be long. Just a quick catch up. Anything I missed, I'll add in my next newsletter. Until next month...
Happy Fall!
