Red Panda Family

I designed this Red Panda family graphic a few weeks ago. They are discovering the magic within a book. I remember when my daughter was little and I would read her a story every day. Reading together makes special memories that last a life time.

Beach Sign

I designed this beach scene last night. I wanted to create something fun and this is where my art muse led me. A tranquil beach scene with a sign that isn't sure which direction is the best one...or the worst one, lol.

Which path would you take? :-)

Art logo included for copyright purposes.

Happy Canada Day

To celebrate Canada's 159th birthday, I designed a graphic of the Canadian flag with some important symbols that reflect Canada.

A Day at the Beach

My vision behind this design was the sunglasses, but I wanted to insert an image of a beach, which I think turned out perfectly. I added seagulls for a fun beachy scene. The palm, umbrella, drink, camera, and flipflops brought the whole design to life. This art design screams summer!

Unfortunately, here on the Atlantic Coast we're expected showers all weekend, so there won't be any trips to the beach.  :-(

Chocolate Lovers Delight

My art muse was alive and designing on the weekend. I created two new digital graphics.

This chocolate lovers delight is a spin on the marshmallow lollipop graphic I designed last year. I decided to try something similar, but this time go full-out chocolate. The marshmallow has a chocolate drip, frosting and drizzled chocolate sauce. Added touches are the chocolate covered strawberries, a chocolate doughnut, cherries, and a chocolate drizzled cookie. That's a lot of chocolate!

This design will make any chocolate lover hungry.  :-)

Story Time

Because it's Friday, instead of continuing the posts from my Redford Falls series book tour, I decided to change things up today. The tour posts will resume next week.

I created this 'Story Time' design last year. Mama rabbit is reading a story to her little guy, and he just couldn't stay awake to the end. I added a few flowers in the background to add some extra color. This is one of my favorite designs.

I haven't posted on my art blog in a while, so I need to set some time aside to add my new sticker designs.

Cardinals - The Couple

I love birds. They are so beautiful, and hearing their songs makes every day brighter. The dark red cardinal is the male and the female is lighter. And their 'song' is like no other. It's very distinctive. We have several cardinals that love our trees. There's even a couple that are nesting somewhere close by.

I designed this sticker a few days ago of the couple perched on a branch, and the male is offering the female a twig of berries.

Nautical #1

I designed this digital art sticker last night while watching the news. I had a vision of what I wanted this design to look like and sometimes those visions are a hit or a miss. This ones was a definite hit. It turned out better than I hoped for. I wanted the anchor surrounded by shells, but it soon took a life of its own with coral and starfish.

I recently learned how to create the sticker background, and I now have many ideas I want to create. Should I design another nautical themed piece or something different? I'm excite to see where my artistic muse takes me on the weekend.

A Splash of Lilacs

It's still too cold here for my lilac tree produce flower buds or even a leaf, but I wanted to create an art piece to portray their beauty, and to help promote their growth.

Lilacs were my mother's favorite flower. I used to cut several branches of blooms and bring them to her on mother's day. Seeing the lilacs, and smelling their amazing fragrant scent, always makes me think fondly of my mother.

In this artwork, I matched the colors of the lilacs and leaves to create a fun splash background.

I'll share a photo when the real lilacs are in bloom.

A Snack While Reading

On the weekend, while the pizza was cooking in the oven, I designed this piece of some books, flowers, a cupcake, and a cup of hot chocolate with marshmallows...some of my favourite things.

I watched an art tutorial from an artist I follow on YouTube on how to make a sticker background. Her instructions were so easy to follow, that I mastered it within a few tries. I can now transfer a lot of my art pieces into stickers. :-)

Mischievous Bunnies

On this Easter Monday, I thought I would share a design I created not long after I discovered digital art work and dove into learning all the fun techniques.
I really enjoyed designing this piece of two mischievous bunnies being playful with a dreamcatcher.

Spring Bunny

Happy Spring and Happy Easter!

My art muse has finally returned. I've been wanting to design new graphics for a while now, but my art muse just wasn't feeling inspired. Lots of ideas have been spiraling in my mind and yesterday, I brought a design to life. This cute little bunny sitting in a wheelbarrow filled with flowers.

I also designed a new art logo for my art site: Paint Pencil Pixel. I no longer have to put my initials in a heart and apply it to every design to for copyright to prevent someone from stealing my art.
All digital art posts will now include my art logo, the background banner from my art website, and watermarks.

I'm excited to see where inspiration takes me this weekend.

Dreamcatcher Series - Sleeping Puppy

I love dreamcatchers and have several hanging in my office.
I also love dogs and have two of those, lol.
With this art design, I combined two of my favourite things...dreamcatchers and dogs.

Anchors Away

This design is the first piece I created in my Nautical theme package.
The anchor, wheel, lantern, and captain's hat made the design pop, but adding the water ripples in the background gave the design the seabound affect I was hoping for.

Cute Mouse

I love the images I've been designing, mixing animals and flowers.
This cute little mouse is adorable as he poses in front of a small bouquet of roses.

Playful Puppy Jack

This is Jack and he is part of my playful puppies art collection.

My playful puppy collection was designed not long after I received my iPad and I got lost in the world of digital art. As I go through my art files to post here on my blog and my art site, I am finding myself eager to get back to some of those original design and to create something else with them.

I think Jack might return soon!

Marshmallow-Cupcake-Lollipop Design

My marshmallow-cupcake-lollipop design.
I need to make some of my designs into transfers and have them placed on T-shirts and cups!

Bee a Sunflower

My Bee a Sunflower is one on my favourite digital designs.
I inserted this cute little bee into a blossoming sunflower and added a tiny sunflower in his hands.

I'm thinking of creating a series of flowers with an animal or creature within its petals. The ideas are spinning, and I'm excited to see where this creative outlet takes me.

Black Cat in Stained Glass

I did this on the weekend.

I love this new art avenue! I completely get lost in the design. This form of digital art is like colouring, which I've always loved to do. As my artist bio states..."my creative journey began the moment I could hold a crayon". And that's very true.

However, it's not easy. Each line has to be carefully bordered (in black) the same way you'd outline a physical piece of stained glass art. You then have to select your colours and while colouring, you have to stay within the lines and not overlap or it darkens. Thankfully, I love a good challenge.

What's next? There are several design I want to try, but I'm pacing myself with templates that aren't too detailed. But then again...didn't I just say I love a good challenge, lol!

Stained Glass Sunflower

My artistic muse is finally back! For months, I lost my design creativity. I'd pick up my iPad and stare at a blank screen. Sometimes I had an idea and started a design, but it fell flat. I just couldn't find my groove.

Maybe it was because I was so focused on writing. I completely changed the plot in one of my stories, and mixing new writing with old writing was harder than expected. I put a lot into that book, and I am thrilled with the result. Secret Recipe will be coming soon.

I wanted to design a stained glass art piece. My first attempt at stained glass was back in school, which was many-many years ago. But getting into that craft takes a lot of knowledge and it's expensive. So, I'm attempting my own version of stained glass with beads. The project isn't finished, but I'm enjoying the process.

A light bulb of creativity went on inside my head. I immediately grabbed my iPad and this sunflower is the result. I love it, and I have several more designs I want to try.

I've missed my artistic muse, and I'm thrilled to have her back.
