Between The Pages Book Review - An Alaskan Homecoming

An Alaskan Homecoming
Beth Carpenter
May 2021

“Ever after” wasn’t the plan…

Until now!

Rowan O'Shea's intention was just to visit her family in the small Alaskan town she calls home. Now she's not sure she wants to leave, given the romantic mess she's left behind. A temporary fake marriage to gorgeous veterinarian Zack Vogel might be the perfect solution, if she can convince Zack. But Rowan's marriage of convenience has a seriously inconvenient snag—she's falling for her new fake husband!

Between The Pages
Some might think that by book eight a series would start to fizzle out, but that is not the case with The Northern Lights. Rowan and Zach hold their own in another great read. The story line is well-written and captivating. The wildlife rehabilitation hooked me right away, as did Zach, the irresistible veterinarian. I enjoyed watching the attraction grow between Rowan and Zach through their fake marriage. The scenes with Zach’s little sister are heartwarming. The added mystery of a missing will is a surprising and enjoyable plot twist. And the adorable goats are back! The author has created a stunning visual within the pages of this series. I can’t wait to return to Alaska!

Between The Pages Book Review - Gone In The Night

Gone In The Night
Anna J. Stewart
October 2017

A childhood terror rears its ugly head...

Psychologist Allie Hollister is still haunted by the unsolved death of her childhood best friend. She never expects her past to meet her present when a young patient is abducted and the cold case is reopened. Allie knows she shouldn't get involved, but the child's uncle, firefighter Max Kellan, needs her as much as she needs him.

Once, Max simply wanted to put his past to rest; now he demands nothing short of justice. As he and secretive, sexy Allie track a lethal criminal, their chemistry is an undeniable adrenaline rush. Their attraction will be put to the test when they confront their most dangerous threat yet: the truth.

Between The Pages
Gripping edge of your seat suspense! Twists and turns you won’t see coming. The author introduces another drop-dead handsome hero. Max definitely receives my swoon-worthy award. Allie and Max are captivating together. This story pulls the continuing mystery from books one and two and takes you to the top of the cliff. The author then leaves you hanging on the edge, waiting for the cast to unravel the case of Max’s missing niece as well as the horror of Allie’s past. The complete cast is beyond enjoyable. Their friendship and trust are unwavering. Such a great story that seamlessly answers all the questions with a tight ending. Another hit from Anna J. Stewart. The books in the Honor Bound Trilogy are perfect stand-alone titles, but I recommend entering this friendship from the beginning.

Between The Pages Book Review - Dream A Little Dream

Dream A Little Dream
Melinda Curtis
February 2021

A small-town judge meets her match in a rodeo star troublemaker, but soon they may both end up targets of the town's matchmakers in this delightful and heartwarming tale of romance.

Darcy Jones Harper is thrilled to have finally shed her reputation as the girl from the wrong side of the tracks. The people of Sunshine Valley have to respect her now that she’s the new town judge. But when the bad boy who broke her heart back in high school shows up in her courtroom, she realizes maybe things haven’t changed so much after all . . . because her pulse still races at the sight of him.

Jason Petrie wants to make amends for the mistakes of his youth—starting with the woman he never stopped loving. Darcy may not believe that he really intends to quit the bull riding circuit and stick around this time but Jason vows—with the help of the matchmaking Widows Club—to pull out all the stops to convince her that they both deserve a second chance.

Between The Pages
Another fun trip to Sunshine Valley. The plot is engaging from beginning to end. Darcy and Jason are great together. The author brings a lot of humour to the story with so many scenes that make you smile and laugh. Stogey is a stinky little star in every scene. The widows rule, and one of the ladies has an itch to scratch. But it is the deceased judge’s voice that sends the laughter off the chart. Another great match made in Sunshine Valley.

Between The Pages Book Review - Reunited With The P.I.

Reunited With The P.I.
Anna J. Stewart
May 2017

In this Honor Bound romance, a perilous change of heart looms for two former lovers...

Exactly why should P.I. Vince Sutton take his ex-wife's case? Because she, assistant district attorney Simone Armstrong, put his brother in jail? Because the ambitious spitfire still drives him crazy? No, he'll take it because "The Avenging Angel" makes him a deal he can't refuse. Sparks fly when Vince works all-too-closely with Simone to locate her missing key witness...but in the process, they are drawn into a cold case. As much as he tries, Vince can't deny that he's never gotten over beautiful Simone, but can he admit his feelings to her--and himself? And can he save her from the danger that's heading their way?

Between The Pages
I was hooked on the Honor Bound series after reading book one, and book two did not disappoint. There is so much to like in this story. The cast is exceptional, and Vince is a welcomed addition. His character is captivating. He grabs your attention immediately. He’s also perfect for Simone. As ex’s, they already have chemistry, but they steam the pages as they reconnect. The author is a master at story telling. The plot is suspenseful as it weaves through a current mystery while leaving breadcrumbs on a previous cold case. A page-turning read I highly recommend.
